So i'm now two days into the Jobcentre 'New Deal Gateway to Work' Scheme, or as I prefer to call it, 'Walking With Townies'. It's actually not that bad so far - jobseeking is at a minimum at the moment but despite playing Jenga and taking part in other various group activities not-so-subtly inserted into our induction sessions intended to break the ice I do think it'll be worth enduring the two week session alongside some of our more, ahem, unambitious jobseekers.
Turns out the shockingly professional lady sitting next to me yesterday was Laura Squibb, somebody I was in school with for nine years and a fellow Graphic Design student in my GCSE year. I haven't seen her since 1998 and neither of us recognised the other until one of the course leaders asked her what her name was while I was sitting there. I then mentioned I knew her and told her who I was and she was surprised to see me there too! She's trying to start a business selling ice sculptures to people in the area - now that's a cool job, no pun intended.
As well as being a shove in the right direction for me motivation-wise, the Gateway To Work is proving to be an excellent character study. Heh heh. Two days and it's already been quite an inspiration!
In other news, I suppose it's obvious that my computer is up and running again. Reformatting the system was eventually successful though it did require a lot of sacrificed time on my girlfriend Fuchsia's part, as she helped me sort it all out (and when I say 'helped', I mean 'did it for me when it annoyed me repeatedly'). Thank you so much for that Fu - not the most entertaining way to spend two days of your visit, I know. I really appreciate it. *hugs*
I have renamed the PC 'Dementor'. This is because every time i'm near it, it sucks all the happiness out of me. Heh heh. That's a little Harry Potter reference there, fot those who are unaware. Speaking of that i'm also getting through the fifth book now, several months after everyone else in the world has. Hey, this is pretty impressive by my standards if my choice in music is anything to go by - i'm usually about six to eight years behind!
And, on that note, i'm back on the old pop music after a short break. You know, after enduring the products of 'Pop Idol' and other Cowell-inspired clone shows for a few painfully-manufactured years now the old Boy Bands feel almost credible. Anyone remember MN8? One of you must, come on. Extra retro kudos if you bought one of the singles on CD (or Cassette)!
"And if you only let me in, i'll be good, so good to you..." c'mon people, sing along now... 1994 is cool and you all know it, you just don't want to admit it.
Another MS fan on Sheezy? There's quite a few here it seems! I have two Master Systems - I will try to breed them and sell the offspring to collectors. ;)
oh my god, for a minute there I had to check my browser, I thought I was on DA.... This is the best page on SA I have seen yet, because it threw me off xD I love it
I love how you got the colours exactly right too :)
